HOLY CRAP CAN’T WAIT FOR THIS DECISION TO BE MADE-OK I tried, but can’t fake this any more. Anyway, this terrible idea (not to mention the ridiculousness of going from a network like HBO to a network like The CW. What?) might be happening. Look, I’m not saying Sex And The City is a terrible show; it’s just not for me. But there’s nothing extraordinary about Sarah Jessica Parker’s character at all. She’s just some lady in NYC that writes cheesy love columns for a newspaper and has a ton of relationship problems.  What would it be about? The beginnings of her self-absorbed personality? I mean,  what’s the purpose of an origin story if that person is just some normal, annoying human being?  She’s no Spartacus (RIP, man.) Anyway, ugh…

The fifth network is about to close a deal for a script based on The Carrie Diaries, Candice Bushnell’s book about Carrie Bradshaw’s high school years. Gossip Girl producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will shepherd the new version should it go to pilot and (if Carrie fans are lucky) to series next fall. Former Sex and the City scribe/co-producer Amy B. Harris will also join in on the fun.

The Carrie Diaries starts with Carrie’s senior year in high school in the 1980s and continues to her first internship in New York City. Samantha Jones is in the story, but the other SATC characters are not. [EW]

Oh, OK. At least the former show runner of Sex And The City is intelligent enough to say: “… is something that I don’t imagine doing.”A series during high school in the 80s is actually not a bad idea, but not based on a prequel of a show like this. Though, I DO know the perfect casting for Carrie Jr, which is this lovely lady. OK, I’m sorry. I actually don’t think she’s unattractive, but I just couldn’t resist. And no, it doesn’t mean I like horses.
